A solution made available as part of the Municipal Spatial Information System of the Cracow City Hall

As part of the order and in cooperation with the MSIP of the Cracow City Hall, we developed and implemented a mobile GISMO solution integrated with GIS systems based on ESRI software.

MSIP Cracow application – mobile access to geospatial data

Building spatial information resources is a great organizational and financial effort. It is estimated that the value of data is about 80 percent of the value of the whole GIS system. The collected data is used to design, make arrangements and to perform current infrastructure maintenance tasks. Making the information of GIS systems available to the public makes new possibilities and areas of using the collected data appear. Re-use of data and the resulting benefits constitute savings, additional income and create a number of social effects listed in numerous studies, including those prepared by EU units and the Polish Ministry of Digitalization. The standard channel for publication of geospatial data is urban web portals (SIP, geoportal). Their functionality is more and more often complemented by mobile applications whose share in Internet activity exceeded 50%, and in the case of map applications this share is even greater. Mobile access to geospatial data allows to significantly increase the number of recipients of this type of information.

The MSIP Krakow mobile application provides access to spatial data and services of the Municipality of Krakow, as well as the possibility to use simple GIS tools. It presents selected layers from the MSIP Observatory portal.

The  MSIP application enables the user:

• displaying map compositions with spatial data made available by the Municipality of Krakow in 5 coordinate systems – including switching on and off individual layers, adding WMS services
• drawing of point, line and surface objects on the map
• measurement of the line length, broken line, surface and perimeter of the training ground
• Track your route using the GPS function and add points with photos and comments
• by means of the MSIP Cracow application you can taking pictures with geolocation
• saving own compositions, GPS routes, points, sketches or measurements
• working on maps without access to the Internet
• reporting information to the Krakow City Hall through questionnaires
• identification of objects from given layers
• making their resources available to other users via social networking sites or e-mails in the following formats: kml, gejson, gpx, wa – containing geojson and photos
• searching for a location by coordinates, address, street
• searching and locating plots of land
• searching for and locating Local Area Development Plans

The mobile geospatial data applications is a new e-service and tool made available as part of the Municipal Spatial Information System of the City of Krakow.
The mobile application is co-financed by the European Union from the funds of the Regional Operational Programme for the Małopolska Region for the years 2014-2020 from the Digital Małopolska axis within the E-Administration and open resources and the e-Service in spatial information sub-action.

The application is available for both Android and iOS users.
